Seedling is so called because of how accurately it describes this EP. There’s been a movement in the last ten years towards technical and digital precision, leaving little to no space in music for the expression of the vulnerability and imprecision that defines our humanity. The Folded Faces aren’t the only ones trying now to rectify that absence, but they might be the Seedling with the most promise.

I’m sitting here waiting for your call Wondering if it’ll come at all You and I, babe, could light up the night sky You and I have something that will not be denied If only you call You and I, babe, could blind them to it all We could make this shrunken world stand tall I’ve got your touch on my mind I want to make your body all mine If only you call Oh, what we could be together I see you at the same time everyday And I can’t help but look you’re way I think about you when you’re not around I could be your king, you’d be my crown Oh, what we could be together I want to share my song with you I play so loud hoping you might hear I know what a single song can do Oh, what we could be together I want to share my song with you I play so loud hoping you might hear me I know what a single song can do

Now I Know 04:26
Mama, where you going to? Are you running away? Or are you just trying something new? Papa, what you gonna do? She’s taken the red light, Leaving you only the blue Now I know Yes, I know She was hot, she was cool, she was mine Now I’m a good man on hard times Mama, there was nothing you could do It’s coming to us all someday Maybe someday soon Now I know Yes, I know She was hot, she was cool, she was mine Now I’m just a good man on hard, hard times Now I know Yes, I know She was hot, she was cool, she was mine Now I’m just a good man on hard, hard times

Sometimes you’re so hard to read You go from high to low so quickly I can’t tell just how you feel About me I wish I knew just what to say Those magic words that would make You laugh and smile the way You do You should know(repeat) You should be told(repeat) I’m a little bit into you I want to hold your hand Pull you close and show you what I can Do with everything I am You should know You should be told I’m a little bit into you I’ve running out of time I’m have to make you mine So you should know You should be told I’m a little bit into you Maybe more than I’d like to admit to

2am 05:02
It’s 2 am in New York City The sidewalks still seem to narrow To hold the lumbering body They say never sleeps It’s 2:05 in New York City Superman walks anonymously You’ve a better luck with the evening lottery Than with holding someone’s eye It’s 2am, and I can’t sleep This city reeks of rotten dreams And they’re seeping into me It’s 2am, is it me? Was I just not made To play this game? They say it’s five o’clock somewhere The perfect time for this I’ll splash some ice cold alcohol On the system in my head It’s 2am, and I can’t sleep This city reeks of rotten dreams And they’re seeping into me It’s 2am, is it me? Was I just not made To play this game? I want to set fire to the rain Knocking on my window I want to dance among the flames And let my world go I want to dance, among the flames I want to dance, my world away It’s 2am, and I can’t sleep This city reeks of rotten dreams And they’re seeping into me It’s 2am, is it me? Was I just not made To play this game?

If I wanted someone to clean me up I would get a maid If I wanted someone to spend my money I wouldn’t bother to get paid If I wanted someone to understand, I’d have more to say I keep you around babe, just to get me through the day I want you to want this, Like I do I’m not trying to take those things you think belong to you I’m trying to take you I want to understand you, that much is true But I stick around you babe, because you’re lonely too Touch me, touch me won’t you So I know that you’re real Hold me, hold me won’t you Ill try to show you how I feel If I wanted someone to run my life I’d drop to my knees and pray You don’t send me away because you want me to stay Touch me, touch me won’t you So I know that you’re real I’ll hold you, hold you darling Together now, this loneliness will heal
